Thanks for a Great Quarter!

This is our last newsletter before winter break. It’s been great seeing you out at our neighborhood events this quarter. We hope you have some fun plans for the break! Best of luck on final exams and projects. We look forward to welcoming you back to the neighborhood in January!

Updates from the Neighborhood A Council

  • Our first council meeting of winter quarter is scheduled for Thursday, January 12. The application for funding will remain open, and we encourage you to submit your requests for winter quarter sooner rather than later! Please review the information about the council application & review process prior to submitting a request.
  • We were excited to approve the following proposals at our last meeting:
    • Celebrating Black History and MLK Day: a neighborhood-wide screening of the movie “The Woman King”
    • Friday on the Lawn heater funding: supporting Columbae’s weekly FOTL every Friday
    • Donner SoAPs: social alternative programming every Friday and Saturday night
    • Sigma Nu Kickoff Cookout: pizza cookout for the whole neighborhood
  • We are thrilled to share that we’ll be launching the Neighborhood Identity Design Process at the start of winter quarter! This is the way students in our neighborhood will decide on things like our neighborhood tree, flag, chant and mascot. And at the end of spring quarter, we will host a commemoration event to celebrate the launch of these aspects of our neighborhood identity. There will be several opportunities for students to contribute ideas, help design, and vote. We’ll share more about those opportunities in our first winter quarter newsletter. For now, if you’re interested in getting involved, please let us know by replying to this email!

Upcoming Neighborhood A Events

Kickoff Cookout @ Sigma Nu, January 14

Our resident pizza chef, William Alexander, has been approved to put a pizza oven in the backyard of Sigma Nu! To celebrate this we welcome all of Neighborhood A to come and feast. Since the oven is limited in size, a supplemental grill for making burgers and hotdogs and vegan options will be there. Live music, good food, and community building.

Celebrate MLK and Black History with “The Woman King,” January 14

Join us for good food and a screening of “The Woman King” to celebrate MLK and Black history! Location TBA.
