Neighborhood Concept
How we got here. Explore the creation of the neighborhood concept, including core principles.
The Neighborhood Potential
Stanford can do more to realize the full potential of the residential experience for our students, and we can be more deliberate in creating residential communities. This need led Provost Drell to empanel and commission the ResX Task Force in spring 2018 as part of the University’s Long-Range Planning process. The Provost charged the task force with developing an overarching vision and articulating a four-year arc for the undergraduate residential experience, including the ideals:
- first-year housing configuration,
- neighborhood concept,
- staff structures, and
- housing assignment processes
Neighborhood Governance
Neighborhood councils are governing boards of students, Resident Fellows and professional staff working together to make decisions for their neighborhood.
The committee submitted its final report in December 2018 and shared the report with the campus community in spring 2019.
