Governor’s Corner, Kappa Kappa Gamma, 550 Lasuen, Synergy, and apartments in Mirrielees and EVGR-A
Yost House, situated in a serene, open space of West Campus near Lake Lag, is home to 60 upper class students. We’re lucky to be close to exciting campus facilities like the Arrillaga Outdoor Education and Recreation Center (AOERC), the O’Donohue Family Farm, and the Windhover Contemplative Center. In Yost itself, we are lucky to have an open kitchen and in-house meal plan, as well as many balconies and decks for outdoor recreation. As a community, we strive for a caring, open, comfortable and inclusive environment.
As educators we envision the dorm taking shape as a learning community in the broadest sense--including directing intellectual activities, working through life's challenges, celebrating together our successes, fostering positive social interactions and communication, and the sharing of diverse cultural, philosophical, and academic perspectives.
On-going highlights of our house include "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" Small group faculty dinner series, hosted by RFs where residents have the opportunity to dine and interact with Stanford alums who have pursued their passions to become successful musicians, writers, physicians, engineers, athletes, venture capitalists, philanthropists, politicians, lawyers, and professors. Our guests have included Srinija Srinivasan (helped to launch Yahoo!), Dave Lyons (collaborated to build Tesla as head engineer), Cliff Goldmacher (noted musician, songwriter and producer), Bernard Muir (Director of Stanford Athletics), David Hornik (partner, August Capital) and many more outstanding guests.
Our student staff runs weekly house meetings, really more a combination study break, fun summer activities, and delicious snacks.
More information about the Yost Resident Fellow is coming soon.
