Due to its coveted location, amazing chef, and tight-knit community, Mars is a beloved home to its residents. The house is primarily filled with seniors and attracts a diverse array of people from all corners of campus.
Mars is known for being one of the smallest houses on the lower row—with only 36 residents in total, it’s fairly easy to get to know the entire house. We have beautiful common spaces with more seating options than you could imagine. We’re also known for our picturesque hammock and front yard—which, we assure you, live up to the hype.
Information regarding mail and package delivery
Students living in Row Houses (Upper Row, Lower Row, Clusters 1, 2, or 3/Cowell) are strongly encouraged to follow the directions for the mail and package process provided on the Mail Delivery and Shipping page, as the PO Box address is each student’s official Stanford address and should be maintained during their entire undergraduate career. However, Row residents are also able to have mail packages delivered directly to their Row house by addressing mail and packages to the house's street address. Please be reminded that Student Housing/the University accepts no responsibility for packages sent to/delivered at individual residences.
Additional Community Information
What’s the coolest thing about your house and community?
Great lawn. Great location. Great people!
What qualities make a successful Mars staff member?
Mars staff members intentionally create a community that is loving, welcoming, respectful, and fun! To staff in Mars, you’ll need to have those goals in mind and make Mars a priority for your year. We want our staff to reflect the diversity of our residents, so we aim to create a staff with a variety of interests and backgrounds.
What’s your favorite event or tradition in your house?
In addition to frequent events on the lawn, one of Mars’ signature events is Rejectoria, a playful foil to Casa Italiana’s Pizzeria. Rejectoria is open to all Stanford students: our goal is to make it as accessible and inclusive as possible. Come for the Costco pizza, stay for the fun! At the same time, events at Mars are often done in tandem with other houses on the Row. “Marsage-a-trois” are three-house mixers that channel the high-energy and welcoming environment that is the Row. Most importantly, Mars is responsive to residents’ desires.
