Residential Education is seeking four undergraduate students who are passionate about building community to support department and neighborhood communications. Communications interns work closely with ResEd professional staff to strategize, create, and execute content for bi-weekly newsletters, Stanford Events, and neighborhood Instagram accounts. Students in this role will advance the core neighborhood principles: diversity, equity, and inclusion; health and well-being; community and belonging; and intellectual and personal growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
General
- Attend weekly communications team meetings
- Attend quarterly training and development opportunities
- Respond to and coordinate with ResEd professional staff and neighborhood engagement interns regarding event promotion and design
Social Media
- Conceptualize, craft, and publish content that shares student stories, builds meaningful connections, and encourages community engagement
- Serve as primary user for uploading Instagram and Stanford Events posts
- Collaborate with Associate Director of Administration and Communications Designer to track analytics, develop the communications strategy, and provide ongoing design support for department and neighborhood programs
Communications Support
- Share feedback and insights gained from website and social media monitoring
- Propose new ideas, directions, and tools to reach students
- Collaborate with ResEd professional staff to ensure that content is adapted to the optimal format for the various department and neighborhood communication channels (e.g., email, web, social media, print)
Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work up to 6 hours per week according to University policy on limitations on hours of employment for undergraduate students (see Admin Guide Memo 10.1.1 Undergraduate Student Employment: “Hours Per Week”)
- Knowledge of social media tools and platforms
- Strong communication and networking skills
- Creativity and adaptability
Commitment
- Autumn, winter, and spring quarter (September 23, 2024 - June 13, 2025)
Compensation
- $18.50-$20/hour based on quarters of experience
