Taking Care of Ourselves & Each Other

Stern: Donner

Main content start

Donner was built in the early 1950s and extensively renovated in 1995. Stern Hall represents Stanford’s brief departure into architectural modernism and honors donor “Aunt Lucie” Stern, a popular local figure and friend of the University who often invited students to her Palo Alto house to make them feel at home.

More About Donner

Part of Stanford's East Campus, Donner provides a one-of-a-kind experience in a classic residence. Donner focuses on arts programs ranging from trips to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon, to local theater performances in Mountain View, and ballet and Cirque du Soleil in San Francisco.  This, along with a hefty dose of sports — both on-campus events and active engagement, and trips to San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose for baseball, basketball, and hockey. Donner is a house for cooks and those who enjoy food and dinner-table conversation; frequent Donner Dinners bring guests from campus and from the area to join us for a home-cooked meal and an evening’s conversation.
