Meet the Adams Resident Fellow
Resident Fellows, or RFs, are Stanford faculty and senior administrative staff who live in apartments or cottages adjacent to student residences and serve as leaders for their communities. Kyle Douglas, Ph.D., is a Research Engineer and Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is deeply passionate about teaching, and his courses cover energy efficient buildings, sustainable materials, advanced concrete design, and the Civil Engineering senior capstone. Prior to his teaching role at Stanford, Kyle worked as a structural engineer at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger and served as the Director of Research and Development for a startup developing low-carbon cement.
Kyle is from San Antonio, Texas and received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. About half of his clothing displays something about the Texas Longhorns, and he realizes it is a bit much. After graduating from Texas, he received an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Cornell and completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Stanford.
When he is not thinking about teaching, Kyle enjoys distance running and competing in ultra-marathons. He has completed several ultras up to the 100K distance and someday hopes to complete a 100-mile race. He will edit that last sentence if it ever happens!
