Lantana, located at 750 Campus Drive, is part of the vibrant Gerhard Casper Quad, which is home to the acclaimed Gerhard Casper Dining Commons. All of Lantana’s common spaces are located on the wheelchair-accessible first floor.

More About Lantana

Lantana is a frosh dorm of 100+ students on Stanford’s east side. It’s a homey and safe spot to hang out, relax, and make lifelong friends. On any given night, you’ll find someone playing piano or ping pong, making something on our big wooden tables, or just getting homework done with friends in our mini-lounges. Though each year is different depending on what residents are vibing on, we love a little irreverence. In past years, we’ve gathered for a fake wedding, built a 7-foot-tall smoke-belching volcano, and hosted platonic dates under the stars on nearby Manzanita field. As a major bonus, Lantana connects directly to Castaño, bringing the two frosh communities together to create a larger, supportive space for frosh.

Meet the Lantana Resident Fellows

Resident Fellows, or RFs, are Stanford faculty and senior administrative staff who live in apartments or cottages adjacent to student residences and serve as leaders for their communities. Rachelle Doorley and Scott Doorley are designers, artists, teachers and authors whose goal is to help students approach life and work with a creative mindset and a designer’s eye. They both treasured their UCLA undergraduate experiences and are grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Lantana community. Rachelle and Scott have two daughters, a high school sophomore and college freshman, and their home is "fiercely" guarded by Catie, Lantana’s eighteen-pound rascal dog-in-residence.

Scott is the Creative Director and an adjunct professor at the Stanford d.school. He was integral in the design of the d.school space and is co-author of the books, Assembling Tomorrow: A Guide to a Thriving Future (PRH, 2024) and Make Space: How to Set the Stage for Creative Collaboration (Wiley, 2012). He was also a primary architect of the d.school’s Stanford2025 project imagining the future of on-campus education in the next decade. With a background and degree in filmmaking from UCLA, Scott teaches classes in media and design and lectures worldwide on design and creative work. Raised outside of Boston, Scott has a thing for alleys, minimalism, and all things sound. He is also happy to talk & share music at any moment.

Rachelle is the founder of TinkerLab.com and author of three books including TinkerLab: A Hands-on Guide for Little Inventors (PRH). With a BA in theater from UCLA and a Harvard Ed.M., her background blends entertainment and education. She has worked as a Hollywood film costumer for Warner Bros. and Universal, and as an arts educator at the MFA Boston and San Francisco’s de Young Museum. Outside of work, you can find her crafting, drinking tea, hunting for vintage books, playing Rummikub, or hanging out at the beach. She invites Lantana residents to stop by and talk about art, ask about the best local coffee shops, challenge her to a card game, or just come by and meet the family dog, Catie.
